The final events of the VeRoTour project will take place in Turkey from 16 to 19 October 2014. After 18 months of project during the which partners have developed the network and pilot tourism products by sailing boat along the historical Venetian routes, the journey ends in Istanbul where the Venetian routes cross the ancient Silk Road. Two events will take place in Bodrum and in Istanbul, in the framework of a major event entitled: Venetian Routes : a transnational cultural route from Venice to Istanbul – united in diversity for intercultural and sustainable tourism development. Both events are organized by University of Bilkent and Mocha tour operator, in cooperation with Ministry of Tourism and Culture of the Republic of Turkey, Veneto Region and UNWTO. On 17 October, in Bodrum an educational tour will be addressed to tourism operators, local stakeholders and project partners in order to raise awareness about the opportunity of developing tourism product around this theme. The educational tour will be followed by a conference in the Castle of Bodrum about the value of networking with multidisciplinary stakeholders in Turkey, for intercultural dialogue and development of the Venetian routes in Turkey as the western stretch of the Silk Road. On 18 October, in Topkapi Palace, in Istanbul, all project partners will present project results and discuss on future perspectives of their cooperation. The discussion will be further placed in a larger framework and a long-term cooperation thanks to the contribution that will be given by the European Institute of Cultural Routes of Luxembourg, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, The Ambassador of Italy in Turkey.
